PR: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: THE NEW UNITED STATES FOOTBALL LEAGUE ON FOX

Pittsburgh Mauler QB Kyle Lauletta Gives Insight on USFL OT Rules

Last week the USFL held their inaugural draft where all eight coaches started the process to build out their rosters. Although the event just took place, we’re already starting to see the quarterbacks make the media rounds.

One of those guys is new Pittsburgh Maulers quarterback Kyle Lauletta. He joined the guys at 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh to discuss the upcoming season and the cities new franchise.

Around the 10-minute mark, the hosts ask about overtime and surprisingly it seems Lauletta had an answer.

According to the Maulers star, the USFL may be looking to do something similar to what XFL fans were hoping to see in 2020; a two-point shootout.

In response to why, he said a lot of it comes down to scheduling and making sure that the broadcasts don’t go over.

Overall this was a great interview with one of the new USFL stars, and it’s definitely worth checking out.

That being said, boy are we hoping to see an overtime game in the USFL if this rule sticks.

With training camps set to begin there’s two big items left for the league to reveal. The first is the schedule, which we expect to drop any day now. The second is the leagues ruleset. Mike Pereira is head of officiating for the USFL, so it’s expected that the rules will more or less match that of the NFL.
