Last June we learned that FOX was going into business for themselves when they announced that the USFL would be kicking off in 2022. Naturally, one big question on everyone’s mind was if there would be betting lines for the new league.
During Super Bowl week USFL exec, Edward Hartman, joined Outkick 360 where they briefly touched on the subject. During which, he didn’t confirm if we’d see betting for the league, but leaned on the growing number of states that now offer legalized sports gambling.
It’s been expected that as we got closer to the season we’d hear more news on this front, and today is the day that we do.
Sportsbook Review reports that DraftKings Sportsbook is the first to confirm betting lines for the USFL.
SBR’s industry insiders have been in talks with all the major U.S. online sportsbooks regarding USFL betting since the league’s reincarnation was announced. We are excited to announce that DraftKings Sportsbook is the first to confirm that they will indeed be hosting betting lines for the USFL.
SBR shared a quote with a DraftKings representative:
We will be offering lines for when the USFL season begins in April. However, we still do not have confirmation of when and in which states these lines will be up. We are also still working on getting confirmation of which props will be offered,” said a DraftKings Sportsbook representative.
This is news that should excite all sports gambling fans.
DraftKings is one of the largest sportsbooks in the country, and this is sure to create legitimacy for the new league.
Looking back at the AAF and the XFL, both incorporated betting aspects into their broadcasts. Considering that FOX is behind the wheel, and having FOX Bet under their belt, we expect to see the same treatment in the USFL.
Now that one sportsbook is confirmed, we think we’ll start hearing more come out of the woodwork. In all reality, with this announcement, it seems that the process getting approval at the state level across the country to become a legal league to bet on is going well.
