USFL Video Game Reportedly in the Works with Axis Football

USFL Week 7 Ratings Are In — How Did They Fare?

Week 7 of the USFL took place of Memorial weekend, with only one matchup airing on broadcast television. Between the holiday, placement and game times it’s expected that we’ll see a slight dip. There were some high stakes going into the week with two teams ultimately securing playoff appearances.

Additionally, this weekend brought us the first overtime matchup of the season.

So, how did the ratings fare?

Kicking things off on Saturday was the New Jersey Generals taking on the Tampa Bay Bandits on USA. New Jersey stamped their ticket to the post-season, but how many people tuned in? The game pulled in 228,000 viewers, which is on par for what we’ve seen so far on the network.

Moving to the later game on USA between the New Orleans Breakers and Michigan Panthers which brought us our first overtime of the year. This was a later game, but it actually out-performed the game earlier in the afternoon with an average of 267,000 people.

The final game of the weekend was broadcast on Peacock, so there’s no numbers to report on that front. That being said, the early game on FOX featured the undefeated Birmingham Stallions taking on the Pittsburgh Maulers. The Stallions ended up continuing their winning streak, and it shows in the numbers.

Although it’s didn’t hit the coveted 1M marker, it did bring in a solid 830k viewers.

With the holiday weekend it was a perfect time for the USFL to air their games on their cable affiliates. Some could argue that this is doom and gloom for the league, but we think we’ll see a rebound as we get closer to the USFL Playoffs.
