USFL on NBC Ratings Rebound Big in Week 6

Last week people were concerned by the dip in viewership for the USFL. One week later and the league seemingly has a big win on their hands.

Early numbers are in for the two Saturday NBC broadcasts, and the USFL saw a nice spike in viewership. The bump is partially due to the Preakness Stakes being sandwiched between the two games.

That being said, the games gained viewership and didn’t see a huge drop-off after the race.

The early matchup between the Tampa Bay Bandits and Philadelphia Stars brought in 1.131M viewers to the table. This is already among the best showings for the league on NBC this season.

The late showcase broadcast between the Michigan Panthers and undefeated Birmingham Stallions brought in a nice 1.309M viewers. This makes this the second best numbers for an NBC game this year. This is a solid number, especially considering the game saw a slight weather delay.

It’s great to see both matchups secure an audience of over a million, especially after the league’s performance last week. These are just the preliminary numbers, so we could see a slight adjustment over the next couple days. As it stands now, this would give the network a 28% increase in viewership week over week.

We’ll keep you updated as the rest of the ratings come in for week 6, but this is definitely a promising start.
