USFL Names Week 4 Players of the Week

We’re now four weeks into the inaugural USFL season, and that means we have another set of players to showcase from the matchups this past weekend.

This past week we saw a lot of close matchups, and we also watched the Pittsburgh Maulers fail to secure their first win. The New Orleans Breakers have found a spot on this list each week this season so far, can they continue the streak?

Join us as we go through who the fans voted to be our players of the week this time around.

Offensive Player of the Week – Reggie Corbin | Michigan Panthers

The Michigan Panthers weren’t able to secure their second win of the season when they faced off against the Philadelphia Stars, but there is some good news to come out of it. Reggie Corning, coming off his second week of action, earned the offensive player of the week spot with his stellar performance.

Corbin racked up 152-yards on the night, with one of the plays accounting for 88-yards and a touchdown. The Panthers had a great opportunity to win the game, but Coach Fisher opted to send in his kicking unit, which went wide allowing the Stars to edge them out by 1. Michigan is looking much better than they did earlier in the season, and with addition of a proper kicker they could be something to watch out for in the second half of the season.

Defensive Player of the Week – Scooby Wright | Birmingham Stallions

For the second week in a row the Birmingham Stallions secure the defensive player of the week spot. This time around it could only be Scooby Wright. Beyond accumulating six tackles, he also brought the world Shark-Dog.

Speaking of which, you can buy your very own Shark-Dog shirt now via BreakingT. The Stallions are still undefeated, so it would make sense that we see them make the list once again. Now, can they keep it up when they take on the Philadelphia Stars next week? Only time will tell.

Special Teams Player of the Week – Taylor Bertolet | New Orleans Breakers

Once again, the New Orleans Breakers make the list. This week Taylor Bertolet is grabbing the special teams player spot for the franchise. This was his first week with the team, he went 3/4 on field goal attempts and 2/2 on extra-point kicks. Without Bertolet, we may be looking at a 2-2 Breakers team. In a season full of kicking woes, Taylor Bertolet earned his spot as one of the best kickers in the USFL.
