USFL Names Week 2 Players of the Week

USFL Names Week 2 Players of the Week

Now that week two is in the books for the USFL, it’s time to learn who the fans chose as the showcase players this past weekend.

This week the league revealed that every player of the week will receive custom Air Force 1’s featuring their name, number and position.

Offensive Player of the Week – Kyle Sloter | New Orleans Breakers

Last week the New Orleans Breakers claimed the Defensive and Special Teams Players of the week. Fast forward to now, and Kyle Sloter has earned the Offensive Player of the week spot due to his performance over Tampa Bay.

Sloter went 25 of 39 on passes for 266-yards of offense and two touchdowns. Next week he’ll face off against J’Mar Smith and the Birmingham Stallions, and only one team can walk away undefeated.

Defensive Player of the Week – Vontae Diggs  | New Orleans Breakers

The Breakers also claimed the Defensive Player of the Week with Vontae Diggs filling the spot. New Orleans came out hot on offense, but holding their opponents to only three points can’t be ignored. Diggs helped his team big with 11 tackles, an interception and defensive touchdown.

Coach Fedora has seemed to have figured out the formula early, but next week is their biggest test to date.

Special Teams Player of the Week – Nick Vogel  |  Houston Gamblers

The Houston Gamblers may not have pulled out the win over Birmingham, but their kicker Nick Vogel was voted Special Teams Player of the Week.

Vogel went 3 for 3 on his field goal attempts, with the longest being for 50-yards. In a season of kicking woes for the USFL, Nick Vogel proved that the ball update seems to have a positive impact.

The Gamblers will look to rebound next week against the Tampa Bay Bandits, and an accurate kicker can go a long way to achieve that goal.
