Nehemiah Shelton played for the Memphis Showboats in the USFL this past season, playing in three games and making one start. Shelton finished the year with three tackles.
The former San Jose State star was excellent in college. At San Jose, he posted 194 tackles and eight interceptions throughout his career there.
Now, he’ll have an opportunity to pursue an NFL opportunity with the New York Jets.
The Memphis Showboats have sent three players to the NFL, including:
TE Daniel Helm
LB Jordan Ferguson
Shelton is the 35th USFL player to sign with an NFL team. Had it not been for the platform – and the national exposure – that the USFL provided him with, who knows if this opportunity would have come along.
