New Orleans Breakers Activate OT Kai Absheer From Retired List

The New Orleans Breakers have re-activated OT Kai Absheer off of the retired list, retaining a key piece for their offensive line heading towards the 2024 USFL season.

Kai Absheer has had quite the journey so far in the spring football scene. He originally played for the New Orleans Breakers in 2022, and started in all ten regular season games.

However, Absheer then jumped to the XFL in the offseason. Kai originally signed with the St. Louis Battlehawks, but was traded to the Seattle Sea Dragons on January 28th.

Kai was ultimately released from Seattle. He would quickly see more action, picked up by the San Antonio Brahmas in March. Absheer saw playing time in two games for the Brahmas this season.

After being removed from the Brahmas roster, Kai Absheer re-signed with the New Orleans Breakers in April. Absheer played in two games for New Orleans, making two starts. However, he abruptly retired on May 3rd, which ended his stint in the USFL in 2023.

Now, Kai Absheer appears to be making a return to football. With the Breakers having activated him off of the retired list, Kai is set to play in 2024.

The New Orleans Breakers have been very quiet in the offseason. So far, they have only signed one player, free agent OL Sidney Wells.

UPDATE: On September 15th, two days after writing this article, the Breakers released Kai Absheer from the roster.
