New Jersey Generals WR Darrius Shepherd Signs With Denver Broncos

Darrius Shepherd was quietly a sensational wide receiver this season for the New Jersey Generals. He delivered consistently week in and week out. Now, he is being rewarded for his efforts, signing a contract with the Denver Broncos.

Shepherd put up impressive numbers for Mike Riley’s offense. No matter who was in at quarterback, whether it be Luis Perez or DeAndre Johnson, Darrius was making plays.

He finished the USFL’s season with 323 receiving yards, and a touchdown. During the semi-finals game against the Philadelphia Stars, Shepherd made an impressive catch to start the second half off, which helped the Generals get their first score of the day.

Shepherd returns to the NFL, a place he’s been before. He was with the Green Bay Packers for a couple of years, seeing a bit of playing time in 2020. Last year, he spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs, but never hit the football field.

Due to his exceptional performances in the USFL, Shepherd now has an opportunity to continue to chase his NFL dreams with the Broncos. Considering one of Denver’s wide receivers just went down with a potential season ending injury, Darrius is in a position to make himself known in training camp.
