While Sean didn’t see much playing time in 2022, he stepped up in a major way during the 2023 USFL season. Mahone started in nine out of ten games for the Panthers, and played quite well. He finished the season with 53 tackles, serving as one of the underrated safeties in the USFL.
The Michigan Panthers defense was, without a doubt, one of the top units in the league. Had it not been for the efforts of this unit, the Panthers would not have even sniffed the playoffs.
Sean Mahone re-signing is excellent news, and shows that the Panthers can look to build upon the playoff run they had in 2023.
Mahone hails from West Virginia, where he played for five years. With each and every season, he continued to get better and better. His final season was remarkable, racking up 81 tackles and an interception for the Mountaineers.
Sean Mahone's interception effectively sealed WVU's win over Texas Saturday.
