The Michigan Panthers have re-signed another defensive player, this time bringing back defensive end Vantrel McMillan for the 2024 USFL season.
Another vet returns for year 3! The @USFLPanthers have re-signed DE Vantrel McMillan.
This is an important re-signing I was waiting for especially being thin at DE right now.

Vantrel McMillan has been with the Michigan Panthers the last two seasons. He saw a limited role in 2022 on defense. McMillan finished the season with seven tackles and a sack.
In 2023, it was a similar story for Vantrel. He’s an important role player to a defense that was filled with playmakers. McMillan saw playing time in nine games, starting two of them. Vantrel posted nine tackles and 1.5 sacks this season, helping push Michigan to a playoff berth.
Vantrel McMillan has plenty of spring football experience. He played for the Montreal Allouettes in the CFL in 2018, and then spent time with the XFL’s Houston Roughnecks in 2020.
His final collegiate season at Tennessee-Chattanooga in 2016 was outstanding. Vantrel compiled 54 tackles and six sacks during his senior year.
Clearly, he brings a lot to the table for the Michigan Panthers defense, and will remain with the team heading towards 2024.
Final Thoughts
GM Steve Kazor has been quite busy this offseason, re-signing many athletes on expiring contracts, including:
WR Devin Ross
OL Joshua Dunlop
OL Keith Williams
DT Walter Palmore
LB DaShaun White
S Sean Mahone
K Cole Murphy
P Kyle Kramer
In addition, they signed two draft picks in OL Jarrett Horst, and TE Gunnar Oakes. They also signed OT Phil Saleh.
After a 4-6 record during the 2023 season, the Michigan Panthers will look to finally crack the .500 mark next year.
