Highlights from Week Three of The Spring League

Highlights from Week Three of The Spring League

We’re officially halfway through the 2021 TSL season, and its been a great showing so far. With a short six-week season, every win counts if you’re looking to get a spot in The Spring League Championship.

Conquerors vs Aviators

Kicking off week three we have the Aviators looking for their first win over the Conquerors who will be looking to get back in the W column. This week we saw a whole new Conq’s team on the field. They dominated both on offense and defense, holding the Aviators to on 7 points.

The Aviators continued to struggle this season, and if they stay on this path their slim shot at a championship will be closed. We’d expect to see a lot of adjustments from Terry Shea and the rest of the Aviators coaching staff. The Conquerors will look to stick to their winning strategy against the Linemen who are looking scary in their own right.

Alphas vs Linemen

The Alphas had the opportunity to extend their winning streak and stay un-defeated against the Linemen who were coming off a strong week 2 victory. If you thought the first game was a blow-out, then the second will blow you away. There must have been something in the air in Indianapolis tonight, but the Alphas who had looked so dominant in the first two -weeks looked like a completely different team.

Coach Mumme and the Linemen shined on both sides of the field, with their defense looking exceptional. With this win and massive scoring, the Linemen now sit on top of the North division, but they will face Conquerors next week in a matchup that has the potential to be one of the best this season. The Alphas will look to rebound when they take on the Aviators who are yet to win a game.

Generals vs Blues

Last week Ryan Mallett and the Generals took their first loss against the Sea Lions, but were looking to find their groove again against the Blues. The Blues have have been back and forth all season, but it didn’t help that their starting quarterback Eric Dungey announced he was going to miss the season due to a Bengals minicamp.

It’s another rainy day in Houston, but this did not stop the Generals from scoring on their first three drives. Their defense was also coming out on top of Francois and the Blues, keeping them scoreless while they were racking up the points. Connor Kaegi came in for the Blues after Francois was incurred and scored in his first two plays. The change wasn’t enough for the Blues though, ultimately taking another loss on the season.

Jousters vs Sea Lions

Rounding out the action for The Spring League this week is the Jousters and Sea Lions, both looking to their week 2 success. Joining New York Guardians alumni Kevin Gilbride and Luis Perez this week is running back Tim Cook. Although it was his first game with the team, Cook made his presence known on the field. Moving the chains and the score, getting into the end-zone for the Jousters.

The Sea Lions put up a good game, but the rain wasn’t helping matters. When it was all said and done, the Jousters came out on top, but the Sea Lions have plenty of time to get out of the bottom spot in the South.
