FOX Airs USFL Season 2 Promo During NFL Sunday Coverage

The USFL discussion has been heating up as of late. Last weekend rumors started to swirl that the league may be relocating and rebranding the Tampa Bay Bandits to Memphis under the Showboats monikur.

Later in the week the USFL officially named John Defilippo as the new head coach of the New Orleans Breakers. It wan’t long after before he started making media appearances. His spot on The Football Playbook with Ric Serritella was especially interesting. When asked where the league would play in 2023, he stated that Birmingham and Memphis would host two teams with Detroit hosting all of the northern division.

The interview has since been removed, so we’ll just need to wait and see how this plays out.

With the XFL set to hold their draft this week, FOX is making sure fans know that the USFL is still around. Earlier today during FOX’s NFL Sunday coverage they dropped a new promo for season two of the league.

The video shows a big play from week 3’s matchup between the Birmingham Stallions and New Orleans Breakers, followed by the words “United by Football” then “Year 2”.

During the leadup to the USFL’s inaugural season, we saw FOX push a lot of promos for the new league during the NFL Playoffs and even NASCAR.

The last time around it wasn’t until nearly the end of the NFL season before we saw the marketing push. This time around, they’re getting a jump on the promos.
