On Sunday, Birmingham Stallions fans were shocked to see the team release starting tight end Cary Angeline, leaving the Stallions with only one tight end on the roster. However, General Manager Zachary Potter had one more trick up his sleeve before the USFL season kicks off on Saturday. Yesterday, the Stallions put the league on notice when they announced the signing of tight end Thaddeus Moss.
The @USFLStallions added former LSU tight end Thad Moss to their roster today.
Moss caught 47 passes for 570 yards and 4 TDs on 2019 LSU's national title team.
He's also the son of Pro Football Hall of Fame wide out Randy Moss.
He joins Jace Sternberger in a loaded TE room.

Moss (6’3, 250), son of Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss, began his collegiate career at North Carolina State. In his freshman year, he started three games and had six catches for 49 yards and a touchdown. After that season, he transferred to Louisiana State University. He had to sit out a year due to NCAA transfer rules, and LSU redshirted him the next year. In his junior year, he burst onto the college football scene as the starting tight end of arguably the greatest college football team in history. That year, Moss emerged as one of quarterback Joe Burrow’s favorite weapons alongside stars Ja’Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, and Clyde Edwards-Helaire.

Moss’s 2019 season was the most productive for a tight end in LSU history. He started all 14 games and finished with 45 receptions for 570 yards, both LSU records for a tight end. He added four touchdown receptions. He was particularly dominant on the biggest stage, catching five passes for 36 yards and two touchdowns in the national championship game against Clemson.

Professional Career
Moss decided to forgo his senior season and declare for the 2020 NFL draft, but he went undrafted. Moss signed with Washington, but they released him in the spring of 2021. He then signed with the Bengals, reuniting with former teammates Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase. The Bengals cut him this past fall, and Moss has been without a team ever since. The USFL will allow Moss to develop and prove he deserves to be in the NFL.
The Stallions now enter the 2023 season even more loaded on offense. They officially have the most potent tight end duo in the league with two record-setting players: Moss and Jace Sternberger. Sternberger set the record at Texas A&M for touchdowns in a season by a tight end. He also finished second among tight ends in receiving yards in 2018 and was a John Mackey semifinalist, first team All-American, and first team All-SEC player. It will be fun to see what Moss, Sternberger, and company can do Saturday when they take on the New Jersey Generals.
