Moving on with the list of former Texas Longhorns currently playing in the United States Football League (USFL) is 23-year-old Brennan Eagles.
Eagles, a 6-foot-3, 225-pound wide receiver from Houston, Texas, was selected by the Philadelphia Stars in the 15th round of the 2022 USFL Draft.
As a true freshman for Texas in 2018, Eagles played in 11 games (starting one) and had one catch for 35 yards. As a sophomore in 2019, the Horns wide receiver played in 12 games (starting seven) and hauled in 32 catches for 522 receiving yards and six touchdowns (averaging 43.5 yards per game).
In his junior year with the Longhorns in 2020, Eagles played in nine games and caught 28 passes for 469 receiving yards (52.1 yards per game), five touchdowns and one two-point conversion catch.
He declared for the 2020 NFL Draft following his junior season at UT; after going undrafted, Eagles was signed by the Dallas Cowboys but was released in August of 2021.
Eagles had a tryout with the Green Bay Packers shortly thereafter before finally landing with a new team on a professional football roster when his name was called in the 2022 USFL Draft.
Thus far for the Stars in 2022, Eagles has yet to see any action in a regular season game as he is currently on Philadelphia’s practice squad with high hopes of being called up in the near future.
Fun facts: Eagles was an All-America and all-state honoree at Alief Taylor High School (Texas) and also competed in the 100-meter, 200-meter, high jump and long jump as a high school student-athlete.
