Baylor Bears in the USFL: Jameson Houston

Houston, Stewart Continue to Shine in Panthers Secondary

Regardless of Michigan’s 1-4 start to the 2022 United States Football League (USFL) season, a pair of former Baylor Bears in the Panthers secondary are continuing to shine.

Both Jameson Houston and Orion Stewart, former green and gold stars at the Waco, Texas-based Baptist University, are an ongoing threat on Michigan’s defensive unit.

Just this past weekend alone, Houston (five solo tackles, two pass deflections) and Stewart (four solo tackles, one pass deflection) filled up the stat sheets in a heartbreaking gridiron loss to the Tampa Bay Bandits, 27-20.

Thus far for the Panthers in 2022, Houston has 18 total tackles (18 solo), six pass deflections and one interception; Stewart, meanwhile, has 18 total tackles (12 solo), four pass deflections and one interception.

The road ahead doesn’t get any easier for Michigan either, as the Panthers prep for a battle against undefeated Birmingham (as of publication; the Stallions are slated to face the Houston Gamblers on Sunday, May 15) on Saturday, May 21 at 6:30 pm Central Time on NBC.

Will Houston and Stewart help lead a charge on defense that will propel the Panthers to a victory against the best team in the league, or will they fall to 1-5?

Only time will tell, but until then… SIC ‘EM BEARS.
