Houston Concludes Season Tonight as Gamblers Battles Breakers

Miracles do happen.

Just ask the Houston Gamblers.

Houston sealed the team’s biggest victory of the season, and the Gamblers’ second win in 2022, in a remarkable upset over the best team in the league — the Birmingham Stallions — last weekend in Alabama.

In fact, last week’s Houston win was probably the biggest shocker of the season thus far in the United States Football League (USFL).

Could the Gamblers conclude the 2022 campaign with a pair of wins and end the year at 3-7?

We’ll know soon enough, as the regular season rolls to a close for a majority of the teams this weekend, with playoffs looming around the corner.

Today’s final round of matchups began with a battle between two 1-8 teams as the Michigan Panthers took on the Pittsburgh Maulers (11 am Central Time on USA) to kickoff Father’s Day action on TV.

For both of those teams, today will be their final game of the regular season; and both squads have numerous USFL stars, despite the one-win records.

I digress.

The Houston Gamblers (2-7, last place in the North division) face the playoff-bound New Orleans Breakers (6-3, 2nd place in the South division) tonight at 7:30 pm Central Time in a game that will be televised on FS1.

These two teams are on opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of overall season wins, but as everyone learned last week — don’t ever underestimate the Gamblers.

As mentioned multiple times this season, Houston could EASILY be 7-2 instead of 2-7.

But reality is the Gamblers final game of this inaugural 2022 USFL season will be played tonight, and Houston fans will be left to discuss next season’s hopes and dreams all offseason.

Until that time, however, there is still plenty of football to be played and I can’t wait to watch all the action.

Go Gamblers!
